Uncountable Noun คือนามนับไม่ได้
และจัดเป็นคำนามเอกพจน์ มีหลายประเภท เช่น
1.1
ประเภทอาหาร เช่น rice, bread, butter, meat
1.2
ประเภทน้ำและเครื่องดื่ม เช่น tea, coffee, beer, rain
1.3
ประเภทผง เมล็ด หรือเส้น เช่น salt, flour, sugar, chalk,
hair, fiber
1.4
ประเภทเนื้อสสาร แร่ โลหะ เช่น gold, silver, stone,
1.5
ประเภทนามธรรม เช่น Patience, pain, advice, health,
furniture, clothing, happiness, music
2.
คำบางคำเป็นได้ทั้งนามนับได้และนามนับไม่ได้
แต่มีความหมายต่างกัน เช่น a glass แก้วน้ำ – glass กระจก, an iron เตารีด – iron เหล็ก, a time ครั้ง, หน – time เวลา
3.
ไม่ใช้ Article a, an นำหน้าคำนามประเภทนี้
แต่ใช้ the นำได้ในกรณีที่ต้องการชี้เฉพาะ
เช่น Thai people
eat rice. คนไทยกินข้าว, The milk in that bottle has gone bad. นมในขวดนั้นเสีย(บูด)แล้ว

คำนามประเภทนี้ไม่มีรูปพหูพจน์
และไม่ใช้คำบอกจำนวนนับ หากต้องการบอกจำนวน ใช้ some ได้ เช่น some milk, some money,
