If clause Type 2 เงื่อนไขที่เป็นเรื่องสมมุติ (แทบไม่มีทางเป็นไปได้)
1. ใช้ในการสมมุติ หรือตั้งความปรารถนาอย่างเลื่อนลอย โดย would และ should แต่ไม่มีความหมายเป็นอดีตและเราสามารถใช้ would ได้กับประธานทุกตัว
Example: If I won the first prize on the lottery, I would take a trip around the world.
ถ้าผมถูกรางวัลที่หนึ่ง ผมจะเดินทางรอบโลกเลย
If the bridge collapsed now, we would all be killed.
ถ้าสะพานเกิดพังขึ้นมาตอนนี้ล่ะก็ มีหวังตายกันหมดแน่เลย
2. สังเกตโครงสร้างที่ใช้ว่าเป็น If + S + Past simple, S + would/should + V0 (base-form Verb) และเราสามารถวาง if ไว้กลาง ประโยคก็ได้ (ทำหน้าที่เป็นตัวเชื่อมเอง) โดยไม่ใช้ comma
Example: If I had money, I would buy a car.
ถ้าผมมีเงิน ผมจะซื้อรถเลย
I would buy a car if I had money.
3. สำหรับ Past simple ของ be หลัง if จะใช้ were ทุกตัว โดยเฉพาะภาษาที่เป็นทางการ
Example: If I were a millionaire, I would buy everything in the world.
ถ้าผมเป็นเศรษฐี ผมจะซื้อทุกอย่างบนโลกใบนี้เลย
If he were here, he would sing us some songs.
ถ้าเขาอยู่ที่นี่ เขาคงร้องเพลงให้เราฟังบ้างล่ะ
4. เราสามารถใช้ could/might แทน would/should ได้
Example: If I had enough money, I could/might buy a car.
