If clause Type 3 เงื่อนไขที่ตรงข้ามกับความจริง (อารมณ์เสียดาย)
1. ใช้การเขียนรูปแบบนี้สำหรับการสมมุติเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นในอดีตมาแล้ว ซึ่งไม่ใช่ความจริงที่เกิดขึ้น Example: If I had been there, I would have seen him.
ถ้าฉันอยู่ที่นั่น (ในเวลานั้น ซึ่งผ่านมาแล้ว) ฉันคงได้เจอเขา
If he had seen me yesterday, he would have spoken to me.
ถ้าเขาเจอฉันเมื่อวานนี้ เขาคงได้คุยกับฉัน (ความจริงคือเมื่อวานไม่ได้เจอกัน เลยไม่ได้คุยกัน)
2. สังเกตโครงสร้างที่ใช้ว่าเป็น If + S + Past Perfect, S + would/should/could + have + V3 และเราสามารถวาง if ไว้กลางประโยคก็ได้ โดยไม่ใช้ comma
Example: He would have helped you if you had asked him to.
เขาจะช่วยคุณ หากคุณขอร้องเขา
If you had asked him to, he would have helped you.
(ความจริงคือไม่ได้ขอความช่วยเหลือจากเขา เขาเลยไม่ได้ช่วย)
Exercise
จงเขียนประโยคโดยใช้รูปกริยาให้ถูกต้อง พร้อมสรุปความจริงของเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้น
Example: He will come yesterday. I shall talk to him.
If he had come yesterday, I should have talked to him.
ความจริงคือเมื่อวานเขาไม่ได้มา ฉันเลยไม่ได้คุยกับเขา
1. He will come again. I shall punish him.
2. She will work hard next year. She will pass the exam
3. They will play football tomorrow. We shall come
4. I shall have a party on Sunday. I shall write to you.
5. You will sing again tonight. I shall go away.
6. We shall stay here until 9 o’clock. We shall watch TV.
7. Jack will come again. I shall tell him the news.
8. He will go away. You won’t see him again.
9. I shall go to Hua Hin next summer. I shan’t forget to tell you
10. Our teacher will see that naughty boy. He will be angry.
